Study tours
The International Services Branch coordinates study tours that enrich the educational experiences of overseas students visiting the Northern Territory.
Northern Territory schools have more than 10 years experience hosting visiting groups of students and teachers. Each study tour is customised to meet the needs of the visiting group.
Groups should have at least 15 people, but no more than 20. Tours should be between one and two weeks in length.
Accommodation
Schools will arrange accommodation for visiting students with carefully selected local families for visiting students. Visiting students will be matched as closely as possible with local students according to age and interests.
Price
The International Services Branch will determine a fee based on number of participants, duration, excursions and other activities.
Tour activities
The tour programs are designed to meet the specific needs of the tour group. A typical study tour will combine a mix of English language lessons, cultural and tourist activities. Each tour will include a welcome ceremony and farewell party. Each student will receive a certificate of participation.
Each study tour includes excursions to provide visiting students with the opportunity to see a range of local attractions unique to the Northern Territory. These could include:
- Territory Wildlife Park
- Aquascene Fish Feeding at Doctor's Gully
- Adelaide River Cruise (Jumping Crocodiles)
- Museum and Art Gallery (with a focus on local natural history)
English lessons
English lessons are based around planned activities. For example, a visit to the Territory Wildlife Park would be preceded by an English lesson focusing on language such as names of flora and fauna, climate, geographical or environmental issues.
Integration into classes
Visiting students have the opportunity to participate in regular classes.
