School psychologists
The Department of Education and Training employs school psychologists who provide psycho-educational information through consultative processes, assessment, and planned interventions for schools and parents. The key focus is the provision of psycho-educational information relevant to students' learning needs.
Assessment occurs across a range of areas including:
- Intellectual and academic assessment
- Adaptive functioning assessment
- Social and emotional assessment
School psychologists have qualifications in both education and psychology. They use a consultancy model of service delivery, working in partnership with teachers and parents.
