Environorth: Living Sustainably in Australias Savannas - gives NT schools access to a comprehensive range of online educational resources focusing on the Top End environments. There are three key sections:
- Learn Savannas - the interactive student modules
- Teach Savannas - which includes curriculum links and teaching support materials for the modules
- Savanna Windows - the resource section for student inquiry.
Savanna Walkabout student module focuses on Top End biodiversity and aims to engage middle years learners in learning that fosters authentic, active and interactive experiences. Learners model authentic scientific inquiry by joining the researchers to investigate threats to biodiversity in Kakadu National Park. The module highlights the role of Western Science Knowledge and Indigenous Knowledge. Primary and middle years students can explore local food chains and food webs and get up close and personal with termites exploring how termites are the lifeblood of our tropical savanna ecosystem. Through engaging interactions students also investigate the impacts of fire, ferals and weeds on our savanna ecosystem.
