Special education and disability
A range of support services are available for children with disabilities and additional learning needs. The Department of Education and Training provides support services, specialised equipment and resources and professional development activities for school staff.

Teaching Multilingual Learners Program
Multilingual learners are a diverse cohort comprising 40% of the students in the Northern Territory. Education for multilingual learners through ESL methodology is core business for NT Department of Education and Training. The department undertakes to provide programs to enable multilingual learners to become proficient in Standard Australian English (SAE) to access the content and learning processes in the delivered curriculum.

Centres for Excellence
Centres for Excellence are designed to cater for high ability students in Years 10, 11 and 12 who have a passion for learning in a specialist area that has been identified by school/college.
